Lesson 1 of 9
In Progress

Step 1.1: Create the Design – Halloween House

1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3: We are going to use the Shapes functionality to add a square to our canvas.

4: We are going to resize our square with the following size: W: 3.5” and H: 4.9” (R10 Insert Cards). This measurement is the same as the insert cards that we are using, since there are 4 different sizes, make sure that you are using the measurements related to your insert cards.

đź’ˇTip:  If you want the W and H not to be tight together, click on the lock that is showing, so you can add the different dimensions separately.

5: We are going to change the color to the desired one for our card base, this is just to help us to see how the design is looking,in our case we are going to choose an orange color, since that color is also one of our insert cards.

After you changed the color you should have something like:

6: Now, using the upload functionality, we are going to upload one of the images that we are providing, we are going to start with the Halloween_house file, and inside in there you are going to click on Upload image:

After you clicked on that button, you should see the following screen, in there you can browse where you downloaded the image or just drag and drop from the location.

After you browse your image, you should see the following:

We are going to click on Continue button and in the next screen you can add the name of the file, or tag o just click on Upload button in order to add it to Canvas.

When you uploaded to the canvas, you should have something like:

7: Now, we are going to add a square and we are going to resize it, using the same process as we used with our first square to the following dimensions: W: 0.07 and H: 0.07

8: We are going to duplicate 3 times this shape by using the Duplicate functionality that is located inside the Edit option on the horizontal top bar.

After you duplicate it, you should have:

9: Using the rotate functionality we are going to rotate them and add them to the 4 corners of our card:

đź’ˇTip: This is going to be to add our back cardstock for the design. If you do not want to do an insert and just glue it, you can avoid this step.

10: We are going to select all the 4 corners and we are going to group them together, in order to do this, you are going to do a right click over the 4 elements under layers and click on Group:

After you Group them, you should have:

12: Following the same process as before, we are duplicate this selection the amount of times that we are planning to use them, in our case is 3 times (because we are going to create 3 cards):

13: We are going to grab one of our corners, and we are going to move it with our Halloween House over the base of the card, and we are going to resize it:

14: Now, using the text functionality we are going to add the following phase: “Spooky Season” and we are going to change the font to the cricut font called: “Dela Gothic One”

đź’ˇTip: You can choose any other font that you like and even change the phrase! Remember that we are just providing you a guide!

15: Once you added the text and you changed the font, we are going to resize it and add the text to our base card.

16: We are going to grab all our elements and we are going to attach them all together:

đź’ˇTip: You can use the align functionality to align the elements if you want them in the center or in any particular section of your card.

OPTIONAL: We are going to create 2 more designs, if you want to skip them and start cutting this card, you can go to STEP 2: Cut the Design.
