  • How to Seal Permanent Vinyl on Tumblers

Posted by Betsy Asturias on July 29, 2024 at 2:29 pm

I personalized stainless steel tumblers using Cricut Permanent Vinyl. The vinyl is not sticking well. I’ve continued to press it down but the ends of the letters loosen up. Is there a way to fix this? The tumblers will be used for cold drinks. What sealants work best? (I plan to give them as gifts on Saturday 8/3 and I read that Mod Podge requires 28 days to cure, so this is not an option).

Thank you for any advice, it is so disappointing that it is not sticking!

    Hi Betsy:

Normally Permanent vinyl is enough with tumblers, if they are not sticking enough you can try to remove the vinyl, clean the tumbler with alcohol let it dry and apply the design again with a new cut. In my experience with modge podge, I just wait like 24 hours after apply and I wash them, always taking into consideration that the design do not need to be on the area in where you drink, so using modge podge on that area is safe.

Another option is to use epoxy. But this a more advanced process and need to also curate for a couple of days.

Feel free to reach out. Happy crafting!

    Warmly,

    Paula
