Lesson 1 of 4
In Progress

Step 1: Create the Designs

First Design: Congrats Card:

1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design

Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3: We are going to start by using our shapes functionality and adding a square that we are going to resize to the following measurements:W: 10” and H: 7

This is going to be the base of our card.

4: We are going to change the color of the base to anyone that we want, in our case to a light gray:

5: Using the shapes functionality, we are going to add an score line, that we are going to resize to H: 7” and we are going to place it in the center of our card by using the align functionality:

Once we aligned it you should have something like:

Now we are going to make sure that we attached the score line to the card, so the machine knows where to score:

6: Using the upload functionality, we are going to upload our grad / prom design, and add it to our canvas:

After you add it to the canvas you can eliminate any of the images inside the one that you added or if you want to keep them all, you need to just weld them together

💡Tip: You can also rotate the card if you prefer. You can also add another square (W: 5”  H:7”) in a different color to use as the background of the image if you decide that is going to be different than the base of your card.

7: At this point you need to decide if your design is going to be vertical or horizontal, in our case is going to be vertical so we are going to rotate the image that we just added and we are going to resize it as desired, taking into consideration that the W or the H needs to be the same as the based card:

8: In our case we want the image a little bit bigger so we are going to reduce the extra space on the sides:

We are going to add a square over the desire measurement and we are going to slice it:

After applying the slice functionality:

The excess of the slice can be deleted or hidden since it’s not going to be used.

9: We are going to add the banner by using one more time the upload functionality, we are going to place it on the top part of the front:

10: The interior of the banner is going to be cut, so in our case we want to be able to add some text over it, so using the contour functionality we are going to select the following sections in order to have the interior of the banner full:

After applying the contour:

You can change the color of the banner as desired.

11: Inside the banner, we are going to write a word, could be Congratulations, Congrats, Class off 2025, or any other word that you may like. In our case we are going to use the Text functionality and we are going to write the word Congrats and we are going to change the font to the cricut free font: Favorite Fonts Collection – Ole

After changing the font:

12:  We are going to resize it and place it over our banner:

You can choose by cutting the word or print then cut if you prefer, in our case we are going to cut it.

13: As an option In the inside of the card you can add a quote / phrase / sentiment, in our case we are going to add the following phrase:

14:  We are going to print the phrase into our card, so we are going to change the functionality to print then cut:

And we are going to attach it to the card so the machine knows where to cut:

15:  As a last detail, we are going to add 2025 with the same font as the Congrats text and we are going to place it over our image, we are going to apply some 3D design, so we are going to cut it, but you can slice it if you like to see in the numbers the background color:

16: You are going to notice, that the following warning message is showing after you attached the print then cut text to the base of our card:

You have several options:

A- resize the whole card, do not forget if you are choosing this option to select all the different elements that are going to be in the front of the card.

B- Revert the attachment, and generate an interior of the card, this is the option that we are going to follow, so we are going to add a square with the following measurements: W: 4.7 H: 6.6

💡Tip: You can create it with the same size of the card W: 5” and H: 7” and glue it together.

17: Your first card is done, remember that you can add any other detail that you want, like the name of the graduate, colors related to the school/ university/ college  of the graduate, etc.

We are ready to create the second design, if you do not want to make it, feel free to move to STEP 2: Cut the Design.

Second Design: 2025 Intricate cuts:

1: We are going to start our second design by adding 3 squares and then resize them to :

Base card: W: 9.7” and H:7”

Card connector: W: 0.65” and H:7”

Front of the card: W: 2.5” and H:7”

You should have something like:

2: We are going to add to our canvas, our diploma and graduate hat:

3: Using the images functionality we are going to search for curls, in our case we are going to use the 2 following options:

After adding them to our canvas:

4: From the front of the card section, we are going to start placing our hats, diplomas:

💡Tip: For the diploma we applied the contour functionality in order to not cut some of the sections, in our case we removed from the cutting the following sections:

5: From our curls, we are going to hide or remove the backgrounds and we are going to ungroup them:

6: We are going to start placing the curls in different sections, we are going to duplicate the curls and all the elements as needed:

💡Tip: We need to take into consideration that all the elements need to be touching between each other.

7: We are going to weld all the elements with the front of the card:

8: Using text functionality we are going to add 2025 vertically, in our case we are using the font: Favorite Fonts Collection – Ole

9: We are going to slice the the year into the left side of the front of the card:

💡Tip: As you can see, after we weld the elements we decided to add some extra curls, you can add any other element that you want at any time during your design process.

10: We are going to make sure that our front card is still W: 5” and H: 7” we are also going to change the color for a similar color that we are going to use:

11: Now, we are going to add 2 scoring lines with H: 7” and we are going to place them as follows:

  • One on the connector of the card in the center:
  • In the base of the card, we are going to place it in the W: 5” (you can use the canvas grid or the positions functionality)

You should have something like:

12: We are ready to start cutting our both designs!
