Step 1: Upload the Design

1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3: We are going to start by uploading the SVG files related to the unicorn.

Download this zip file which contains the 26 SVG files.

Once downloaded, unzip the file and then upload each SVG file one at a time. 

Each File has the color related to the section of the unicorn, you can change them as you like directly with the cardstock that you are going to cut.

To upload them we are going to click on upload functionality 

You are going to click on Upload Image and choose the SVG File that you are going to upload and you should be able to see something like this:

Click on Continue and then click on Upload:

💡Tip: We recommend to upload one or two of the SVG files and do the whole process, that we are going to explaining in the following steps, and then repeat the process with other 2 files and so on until you are done, since the files are heavy.

4: We are going to have now the section of our design in our Canvas:

💡Tip: DO NOT RESIZE the design, since each part is correlative with the next one, so if you change the size of any of the files, is going to affect the final product.

5: At this point you have 2 options on how you are going to CUT the design:

A- Print Then Cut: we recommend this option. For this option, you need to use a scoring board and score each pieces by hand, so is more time consuming (1 – 1.5 minutes per piece more or less minutes), also for this option you need to use 8” x 11” size cardstock .To continue with this process go to Step 6 to Step 8

B- Draw, Score and Cut: this option is more complete than the print then cut, but since the numbers are small, it is hard to see them when they are drawn.  You can use full mat cardstock (12” x 12”). To continue with this process go to Step 9 to Step 13

This is based on your preference, we are going to explain how to proceed with both options.

6: Print Then Cut Option: For this you are going to select the file that you just added, go to the operations functionality in the top menu bar and in there choose Print then Cut option.

💡Tip: For the files that are related to colors (NOT BLACK), before printing you need to change the color to white since you are going to use the cardstock with the right color. On the group section, just select the item in where the color is showing (the basic shape) and then change the color to white:

Before proceeding to flatten the design, you should have something like (for the color files):

💡Tip: For the piece that is in black color, we need to print it in a white cardstock, since printers do not have white ink. So for this, you are going to keep the color of the piece:

Also, to be able to see the numbers of the small sections and the lines to score you can change the color to a lighter one, like gray:

As a second option, you can print it twice, one all in white (as the other colors) and then all in black, for this option you need to delete the gray numbers showing as default (7A and 9A) or later you can paint them with a sharpie or pen.

7: Now we are going to select the design, and click on Flatten functionality:

8: After this, you are ready to proceed with printing and cutting.

9: Draw, Score and Cut Option: For every file, you are going to see inside the Group section, 3 different sections as follow:

10: You are going to select the first Group, and using the operations functionality you are going to change the operation from Basic Cut to Pen:

After you change the operation, you should be able to see:

💡Tip: If you select the whole group, all the internal components are going to be affected too.

11: For the second group, the lines, we are going to choose the Score functionality, after you change them to scoring, you should be able to see the following:

12: For the third group, the basic shapes, we are going to choose basic cut:

13: After you change the 3 operations, you are going to select the whole group and attach them, this is to make sure that the machine knows where needs to be draw and score:

After you attach them, you should be able to see something like this:

At this point, you are able to proceed with the cutting process.
