1: We are going to start by painting our easter eggs, in our case we are going to give them 2 coats each including the sides, if your egg surface is very textured, we suggested to sand it first:
2: We are going to use napkins for our decoupage, we need to make sure that we remove the 2 extra layers that the napkins has, since we need only the part with the design:
Some of the napkins that we are going to use are the following:
💡Tip: It depends on the size of your eggs or material that you are going to use to apply the decoupage, in our case we are using 1 napkin per egg.
3: We are going to cut each one of the napkins in order to use partial or the whole design:
4: We are going to grab one of our easter eggs and the first design that we want to decoupage and we are going to present the design over our egg before apply any glue:
5: After that we are going to apply a very thin layer of modge podge and very gently we are going to put our napkin over the glue and using our fingers and/or our brush we are going to proceed to attach the whole design over the surface:
💡Tip: After your napkin is glued, do not try to remove it because if it’s going to completely break, if you want to change something, you need to remove it immediately and apply a new piece. If you have any bubbles, you can use a dry brush or your fingers to eliminate it.
6: We are going to leave any excess until it is fully dry and we are going to cut them.
7: We are going to grab the letter that we want you to use for this particular egg and we are going to transfer it.
💡Tip: You can use transfer tape in our case was easier to just transfer the letter directly to the egg.
8: You can leave this egg as it is.. Or like in our case that is never enough, we are going to use a round brush and some acrylic in order to add small details on the edge of the egg:
9: We are going to proceed the same process with all the others eggs, we are going to apply the decoupage, the letter and lastly the extra color details on the edge:
In some cases, we are going to apply the letter first, since we wanted to add some of the decoupage close to the letter:
10: When all your eggs are fully dry (at least 1 hour) we are going to cut all the excess, in our case we prefer to cut them from the back if our egg:
11: When all our eggs are done you should have something like:
💡Tip: You can repeat the same process on both sides of the eggs.
OPTIONAL: If you are planning to do both designs, let’s do it!! If not, you can SKIP the next steps!
12: Now, it’s time to move to the back of the eggs, in our case, we are going to use some scraps cardstock and we are going to try to continue with the same colors as the other side of the eggs, so we are going to use the following combinations for the background of the egg and the letters:
13: In order to cut the egg shape, we are just going to mark it over the cardstock with a pencil and cut it with scissors, in our case trying to match the exact shape using the cricut was very complicated:
14: Using modge podge, we are going to glue the cardstock egg shape to the back of our eggs:
We are going to apply the same process to all our eggs.
15: with the cardstock that we are cutting the letter, we are also going to cut the design in order to apply it to our egg and we are going to apply the same process with the napkins by using cardstock glue or modge podge and we are going to use the same acrylic paint as we used on the front side in this side too:
After you glue all your designs, you should have something like:
16: Lastly, in our case the bottom of the egg was very textured, so we are going to apply some felt so we do not scratch tables or any other surface. We are going to place the egg over the felt, using a pen or pencil we are going to mark ir, cut it with scissors and use glue to glue it to the bottom:
Before applying the felt:
After applying the felt:
17: Your amazing decor for Easter is done!! You can place them on a kitchen island, a table or just facing a wall and change the design from one easter to another!!
