Step 1: Create the Design
1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design
Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.
2: We are going to use the upload functionality to add our different flowers:
3: We are going to match all the greens to the same one, whatever you like, but it is going to look better while we are designing it than having all different shades of green. We are using:
π‘Tip: You can use different shades of green if you prefer!
4: We are going to use the shapes functionality, we are going to add a rectangle and resize it with our physical placemat and change the color to match our placemat, in our case: W: 13.69β and H: 8.80β
π‘Tip: Remember to use the shape related to your physical placemat, could be square, circle or any other shape and use the measurements related to your physical placemat.
5: We are going to start placing over our digital placemat the flowers and leaves and start arranging them:
6: We are going to use the same flower, duplicate it and then we are going to use the slice functionality in order to separate them and obtain the 2 flowers that are attached into 2 independent flowers:
After slicing them, you should have something like:
We resize them each one of them differently, we also remove to one of them all the leaves and use the flip functionality to change their orientation:
π‘Tip: You need to repeat the the process several time from one flower and then from the other in order to obtain the final result.
7: From the wildflower image, we are going to ungroup them and we are going to use the following flowers:
We are going to start placing them over our placemat, something like:
8: For the other flower related to wildflower file, we are going to slice one of the flowers, so we only use 2 of them instead the 3:
9: We are going to use now the tulip flower set, and we are going to ungroup them and delete all the tulips except the following one:
10: We are going to place it over our placemat:
11: Now, we are going to use the tulip_1 file and we are only going to use the following 2 flowers, by ungrouping and deleting the ones that we do not want:
Something like:
And we are going to place it over our design:
12: As a personal preference, we wanted to add more green at the bottom of the design, so using some of the greenery from the tulip file, we are going to resize it and add it:
13: we are going to change the color to our flowers and the greenery to a lighter one to try to match the colors that we are planning to cut in order to decide if we like them or not, in our case something like:
14: OPTIONAL: we are going to weld all our greenery so itβs easier to weld and transfer to the placemat
π‘Tip: You can cut each greenery independently and place them one by one over the placemat to transfer them, welding the design consumes more material.
15: Once you are happy with your design, we are going to hide the rectangle (or the shape of your physical mat) since we are not going to cut it:
16: Itβs time to cut our amazing design!
In this tutorial, you are going to learn/practice the following cricut functionalities:
