1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.
2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:
3: We are going to use the Shapes functionality to add a square to our canvas.
4: We are going to resize our square with the following size: W: 6.69” and H: 8.66” . This measurement is the same as the physical shadow box that we are using.
And we are going to change the color to match the background of our physical shadow box to see how our design is looking while we are creating them:
💡Tip: Make sure that you use the size related to your physical shadow box, if your shadow box is rectangular, you have to unlock your size measurements in order to add them independently.
5: We are going to use Images Functionality, and we are going to search for a heart:
6: We are going to place the heart over the square and we are going to resize it accordingly, the same way that we did with the square:
7: Once we place the heart and we are happy with the size, we are going to use the Align functionality and we are going to place it in the center.
💡Tip: You need to make sure that you select the square and heart in order to use the align functionality.
8: Using the images functionality one more time, we are going to search for butterflies in order to add them.
And we are going to resize it as follow: W: 0.89” and H: 0.73”
9: We are going to select our butterfly and we are going to create an offset:
10: Once the offset is done, we are going to change the colors of the butterfly and the offset, we are going to use the same process that we used when we changed the square color:
11: Once you changed the color, we are going to center them (the same way as we did with the heart and the square) and then we are going to Group them together:
In order to group them, you are going to click on both elements and then with the right click of your mouse, you are going to choose the Group option
💡Tip: The group functionality help us to move both elements together and then they are going to be cut respecting the sizes and the difference in color.
12: Once you grouped the elements, you are going to duplicate them, at least 7 times to use them on different places over our design:
After you applied the Duplicate Functionality, you should have something like:
13: You can start placing the butterflies over the design, in the position that you like:
💡Tip: You can resize each butterfly independently as you like, if you want some of them bigger or smaller.
14: We are going to upload now, the flower file that we are going to use:
By following the steps in order to upload the images, you are going to see something like:
And in the last step click on the upload button, and the design is going to be added to your canvas.
💡Tip: You need to do the same steps to upload the second file. Is up to you if you want to mix the designs or use just one design.
15: For both flowers we are only going to use what is in “yellow” color, so we are going to hide the rest of the elements, for that we are going to select the flower, and under the layers section we are going to click on the “eye” icon in order to hide it:
After you click on them you are going to see something like:
You are going to do the same with the other flower, after you hide the green leaves, you should have something like:
16: We are going to resize the flowers so they are not that big and fit in our shadow box:
For the Gerbera, the final size following the measurements below is going to be: 1.5” diameter
For the Carnation, the final size following the measurements below is going to be: 1.5” diameter
💡Tip: If you are not sure if the size if going to be right and fit in your shadow box, you can follow some of the measurements below, the final size is approx and it’s going to depend on how tight or close you finish your flowers:
17: We are going Duplicate the flower designs and we are going to change the colors for the flowers as you like. We are going to use only 4 different colors, but it is up to you how many different colors you want to use. After changing the colors you should have something like:
💡Tip: Since the amount of flowers may differ because of the physical shadow box, after you assemble the flowers, you may need to cut more. In our case we used:
- Gray:
- Gerbera: 2
- Carnation: 2
- Pink:
- Gerbera: 2
- Carnation: 2
- Purple:
- Gerbera: 2
- Carnation: 2
- Light Blue:
- Gerbera: 3
- Carnation: 3
18: We are going to proceed to write our text, in our case we are going to use the word: Mama by using the Text functionality.
18: We are going to change the font for the one that we already installed:
After we changed the font, you should have something like:
19: We are going to place the text over the design and resize it so it fits with our design.
20: Our design is ready, one thing to consider is that the heart is the base in where we are going to glue our flowers, you can cut it or print them and then cut based on your preference.
