instructions

Step 1: Install the Fonts

1: We are going to install the font. In order to do this, first we need to make sure that Design Space is closed and then we are going to download the font to our device.

2: After you downloaded the font to your device, you are going to search it and install it, by following the steps showing based on your device, for Mac Devices you should follow the following steps:

3: You are going to do the same process for each one of the fonts that you want to use.

Step 2: Create the Design

1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design

Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3: We are going to start by using our images functionality and we are going to search for a sunflower:

💡Tip: You can choose any other flower that you want and like.

4: After we added to our canvas, we are going to use the shapes functionality and add a square:

5:We are going to resize the square a little bit bigger than the sunflower, and we are going to positioning the square over the sunflower:

Now, we are going to use the slice functionality:

After applying the slice, you are going to have:

You are going to delete or hide all the elements except the one on the left:

6: Adding another square from the shapes functionality we are going to resize it to the following measurements: H The same as your sunflower image and W: 0.04:

7: We are going to place the small large rectangle that we just created in the previous step touching the middle of the sunflower and we are going to weld them:

💡Tip: This is to create a termination border in the sunflower but you can avoid this step.

8: We are going to use images functionality and we are going to search for a banner and add it to our canvas:

9: We are going to start writing our phase using different fonts:

We are going to use the following fonts for the different words:

  • a Mother -> Buttermilk Font
  • IS LIKE A -> Arial Rounded Bold Font
  • FLOWER -> DIN Condensed Font
  • EACH -> Arial Rounded Bold Font
  • ONE -> Arial Rounded Bold Font
  • Beautiful -> Aguellera Font
  • & -> Apple Chancery Font
  • UNIQUE -> Boomers Love Font

After writing all the text, you should have:

10: Inside the banner that we added previously we are going to place the word flower and we are going to slice them:

After slicing them, you should have:

11: Now, we are going to place all the text next to the sunflowers, and we are going to resize them in different sizes and place them in different positions, something like:

12:  We are going to add some dots next to some of the words:

13: We are going to add some leaves as decor:

14: As a final touch, we are going to add some curls:

15:  After you added all the details, feel free to add more leaves, hearts, dots, anything that you want. After you are done, you are going to select all the elements and weld them together:

💡Tip: This is to avoid any extra cut if one of the elements is touching another, like the curls at the bottom

16: Now, your design is ready to be cut!

Step 3: Cut the Design

1: After you are happy with the designs, we are ready to save the project, Click on Save button on the Right Top side of the screen and provide a name to your design and click on Save button.

2: We are going to click on the Make button to start configuring our materials!

3: You are going to be able to see one mat per color of your design.

💡Tip: If you are going to use multiple colors, do not weld or attach elements that are different colors, only the ones related to the same color.

4: We are going to use the following settings for all our cardstock components:

Step 4: Preparing the Pot and Transferring the Design

1: We are going to start by painting the pot, we are going to try to do some kind of sunset / sunrise. We are going to paint one color at the time and we are going to blend colors between each other in order to not generate a straight line:

2: We are going to weld our design very gently:

3: Now, we are ready to place the transfer tape over our design:

4: We are going to remove the design from the back of the vinyl, so it’s completely transferred to the transfer tape:

5: We going to place the design with the transfer tape over our pot and use our fingers to run them so it’s able to stick into the pot:

6: We are going to start removing the transfer tape very gently:

We are going to cut the transfer tape that is not having any design, so it’s easier to transfer the rest of the design:

After we remove all the transfer tape:

7: Your pot is ready, you can add a real plant or add some artificial flowers, we are going to opt for the artificial flowers. We are going to add a piece of foam so the flowers can be stuck in there:

8: Now, we are going to start adding the artificial flowers:

9: Your pot is done!!!!! You did an amazing job!!!
