Lesson 1 of 4
In Progress

Step 1: Create the Design

We are going to create the design in order to place it over our small easel, but we are also going to provide the direction on how to create the design in case you want to add it to your window. Those steps are always going to be listed with the OPTIONAL at the beginning of the instruction.

1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design

Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3: We are going to measure our physician easel (you can also use a regular photo frame if you prefer) and we are going to use the Shapes functionality to add a rectangle into our canvas.

OPTIONAL: You can add a square for your sticker or any other shape with the measurements that you consider based on your window space.

After you added to your canvas you should have something like:

4: We are going to resize our shape with our measurements:

5: We are going to change the color to red

After changing the color you should have something like:

This is going to be the base of our sticker / design.

6: Using the images functionality, we are going to search for a house (we are also going to select the free option inside the filters)

After adding the image to the canvas:

7: Using the shapes functionality we are going to add 2 squares and 1 triangle:

8: We are going to place those shapes over the house and we are going to resize them by using the little squares on the corner of the shape and by drag and drop the shape to the desired size:

In order to obtain something like:

9: After you have all your shapes with the measurements, you are going to select all the elements including the house and you are going to weld them together:

Now instead of having 4 elements, you have one:

10: Using the shapes functionality one more time, we are going to add a pennant, we are going to flip it vertically and we are going to change the color to white:

After applying the flip:

After changing the color:

11: We are going to place the pennant or our house door over our design and we are going to resize it in order to have something like:

12:  Once you have the desired size for your door, you are going to select the door and the house and we are going to slice them:

You should have something like:

13:  We are going to use the TEXT functionality, in here we are going to choose a clear font something that is easy to read, in our case we are going to use the default font that is Cricut Sans and we are going to add the text: PET ALERT:

14:  We are going to change the color to Yellow, and we are going to place it on the top part of our red rectangle:

We are going to resize it so it fits inside the rectangle:

15:  we are now going to add a new text at the bottom of the our rectangle, something like: “IN CASE OF EMERGENCY PLEASE RESCUE OUR XX PETS”, we are going to use the same font as before:

💡Tip: You can replace the XX for the amount of pets, or the word pets for cats, dogs, birds or any other case that applies to you.

16:  We are going to select the text that we just added and the rectangle and slice them in order to have something like:

OPTIONAL: You can group the letters to the rectangle in order to use them for your sticker instead of slicing them:

💡Tip: If you slice them and place them in a window, they are going to be hard to read.

17: We are going to use one more time the text functionality and write: PET INSIDE and we are going to place it in the roof of our house and we are going to slice it:

OPTIONAL: If you are going to do the sticker for the window, we do not recommend to slice this text, we recommend you to cut it and then overlaid it into the design.

18: We are going to use the images functionality in order to add a cat:

After we added to our canvas, we are going to weld any shape in order to remove the cat’s face:

💡Tip:  You can upload any other animal / pet shape that applies to you.

19:  We are going to locate the cat under our door in the house, something like:

💡Tip:  You can add multiple pets like 2 cats, or a dog and a cat for example:

20: We are going to to attach the house and the pet/pets all together:

21: We are going to place the house into our red rectangle and resize it as needed in order to have something like:

22: If you are doing the easel, your design is ready to be cut!

OPTIONAL: If you are going to create a sticker by using printable permanent vinyl, you need to select all the elements flatten so we can print then cut the design and you are ready to print then cut the design! :

💡Tip:  Remember to delete or hide any element that you are not planning to cut like the slice results or any other element.
