instructions

Step 1: Uploading the Pumpkin Spice Cat

1- Open up Cricut Design Space

2- From the Home Screen, click on the “New Project” button in the top right. This is to be able to start creating the design for your project.

3- With the Blank Canvas ready to use, we can start our amazing Project!

4- We are going to upload the Pumpkin Spice cat image that we saved on STEP 3 for the First Part. In order to upload it, on the Right Side Bar, click on Upload Functionality:

5- Once we are in there, by default we are going to see that the Image option is selected (the other option is Pattern Fill, that we are not going to use for this project). Click on Upload Image Green button:

6- Click on Browse Button:

7- Go to your Downloads folder, find the file you saved earlier in STEP 3 of the First Part and click on the Open button.

8- Give the file a name, then click on the Green Upload button in the bottom right.

💡Tip:  By default the Image name is going to be the same name as the one that you choose when you saved the image. You can Add tags as needed/wanted in order to identify or categorize your images.

9- Select the image and then click on Add To Canvas Green Button in the bottom right.

💡Tip:  At the bottom of the page, the same image should be showing as an small icon next to the Cancel Button

10 – Your image was added to the Canvas correctly! You did a great job!

11- Now, we need to make sure that our Pumpkin Spice Cat is going to fit into the Tote Bag. In order to do that, First, we measure our tote bag’s available space. We are using a bag with the following measurements:

Tote Bag Measurements: 13.3” x 13.58” (34 x 34.5 cm)

Pumpkin Spice Cate Measurements: 7.48” x 9.74” (19 x 24.7 cm)

12- We are going to resize the image, in order to do this, click on the pumpkin spice cat image, go to the top bar menu and locate the Size functionality. In there click on the W (Width) and add 7.48“ and click on the return key in your keyboard. You are going to see that the H (Height) is automatically populated (in this case is going to be 9.74”).

💡Tip: If the Height measurement is not the desire one, you can adjust it by clicking on the little lock that is showing, after this, the lock is going to be shown unlocked, meaning that you are going to manage the size/dimensions for the W and H independently.

Step 2: Cutting The Pumpkin Spice Cat Parts

Before moving any further, we are going to save our design. To do that:

1- Click on Save link on the top right corner of the Design Space and Add a descriptive name and click on Save Green Button.

2- Now that our project is saved, we need to make sure that our right machine is selected, to that, we click on the link next to the Make Green Button and from the options listed, we choose the one that we are going to use. In our case it is the Maker.

3- Let’s start Cutting our Project!!!!! By clicking on Make Green Button.

4- We are going to see on the next page, that we have 1 cut page per color related to the Pumpkin Spice Cat, in our case 5 Cuts.

5- You need to check the Material Load type and the Material Size. In our scenario, we are using a Light Blue cutting mat 12 x 12. So there is no need to change the configuration.

6- For each one of the colors, we need to activate the Mirror Functionality. In order to do that, we just simply click over the Mirror button button and is going to change from White color, to green color:

💡Tip:  The purpose of the mirror functionality is for iron-on projects and materials that are placed face down like leather and HTV Vinyl.

7  – We are going to click on Continue and in here, we are going to click on “Browse” to be able to choose the material type that we are going to use and start cutting our design, we are going to search the material using the word “iron

8- Since we are using the same Iron On Vinyl, but different colors, we can keep the same configuration for all the different parts.

9 – We can start cutting.

10 – After all the cuts are done, we are going to obtain 5 different parts (one related to each color):

Step 3: Iron/Press our Pumpkin Spice Cat

1- After all the parts are cut, using our weeding tool, we are going to proceed to weed each part.

2- We are READY to start ironing/pressing our design into the Tote Bag.

3- We are going to use the Easy Press with the following settings:

  • Temperature: 300 F
  • Time: 30 Seconds

4- We are going to press the parts in the following order:

  • Black
  • Gray
  • Orange
  • Pink
  • White

We are going to start with the Black HTV part, making sure that we place it in the zone of the tote bag that we want to:

5- We proceed with the easy press over the black part until the timer is done:

💡Tip:  In my case, since my design is bigger than my easy press, I have to apply the heat again on the bottom part of my design with the same configurations.

6- After the press is done, we are going to wait until the design is cool to peel the contact translucid paper:

7- Now, we are going to proceed with the second color (Gray) and do the same steps as with the black color:

💡Tip:  Before applying the heat, every time that we are applying one color over the other, we need to make sure that the position of the new color is on the right place, you can do this based on how the design is (monitoring the original design) OR you can see on the Design Space before cutting them that there is a border next to each part, (this border is not going to be cut) but you can try to cut it by following the model to make sure that you can place the image over the previous one as expected based on the design.

8 – We are going to continue repeating STEP 6 and STEP 7 until we have all the colors:

9- After all the layers are done, YOU DID IT! You have a beautiful Tote Bag
