Step 1.1: ‘You Are Adventure’ Design

1- In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2- After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3- We are going to start by creating our first design, by adding some pine trees using Images functionalities located on the left side vertical menu

Once in there, we are going to filter by: Free (simply click on the checkbox next to the option) and we are going to search for Pine Tree

You can use any of the options shown in there, in our case we are going to use the 4th image.

💡Tip: You can also search by the code/ID of the image, in our case the code/ID is: #M44419

4- We are going to click on the Image and click on “Add to Canvas” button

5- We are going to add 2 more pine trees for our design. You can do this by following the same steps as previously, OR by clicking on Image , then clicking on the pencil icon (Edit), located on the top menu bar and in there choosing the option Duplicate. You have to do this process 2 times.

After this, you should have something like:

💡Tip: You can also duplicate images by clicking on the image and then using your keyboard with the combination of ctrl/ccomman + D,  you need to do this step 2 times.

6- Now we are going to upload our first Image: Tent.svg. After you downloaded and saved in your computer the image, we are going to use the Upload functionality, located on the left side vertical menu:

Once you clicked in there, you are going to click on Upload Image

Once in there you are going to follow the steps listed below:

  • You are going to click on browse, and you are going to locate the place in which you saved the image. Normally are saved by default in the Downloads section.
  • After you located your image and click on it, once in there, you can change the name of the image(by default the same name as the image that you saved in your computer is showing) and you are going to click on the Upload green button, so you should see something like:
  • After you click on Upload, the image is going to be showing with the rest of the images that you uploaded previously (if any).
  • You are going to click on the tent image, and then click on Add to Canvas button.

At this point, you should have something like:

7- We are going to continue our design, by duplicating our tent, using the same process as we used with our pine trees

8- We are going to separate one of the tents on the side for now, and we are going to continue by placing the 3 pine cones behind the tent, in the position that we like.

9- Now we are going to resize the 5 different elements, in any size that you like.

In order to change that we are going to use the measurements functionalities that is located on the top horizontal bar

If you want the W and H not to be tight together, click on the lock that is showing, so you can add the different dimensions separately.

💡Info: In our case we are going to use the following measurements for now (since we are going to resize the whole sticker all together after all the design is done)

  • Tent: W: 4.91” H: 2.87”
  • Left Pine Tree: W: 2.38” H: 3.13”
  • Middle Pine Tree: W: 1.87” H: 3.43”
  • Right Pine Tree: W: 2.45” H: 3.91”

10- After you like how your design is looking, we are going to select one of the pines and the tent, and by using the Slice functionality located on the Right bottom menu.

After the slice you should have something like:

11- Now we are going to do the same process as the previous step, but we are going to select a different pine tree and the tent.

12- And we are going to repeat the same step one last time with the last pine tree:

13- Once the slices are done, we are going to select the tent and all the pine tree slices result and we are going to delete them since we are not going to use them.

In order to do that, you can select each one of the pieces that we need to delete and click on your DEL / Delete key in your keyboard.

💡Tip: Another way to delete a shape / image is clicking on the desire item and click on Edit (pencil Icon) and in there click on Delete

14- Now, we are going to use the tent that we separated in Step 7. We are going to place the tent in the position in where we deleted the previous one, but we are going to leave some blank margins between the tent and the pine trees, something like:

💡Tip: Remember that this tent needs to have the same measurements as the one that we used before the slices.
15- We are going to select all our 4 parts and Attach them with the Attach functionality located on the Right bottom menu:

After Attaching them you should have something like:

💡Tip: We are keeping the same color as the tent, but you can change the colors and also if you want to use a different color for the trees or the tent you can do it too, you just do not use the attach functionality.

16- We are going to proceed to add some Text, in order to do that, we are going to use the text functionality:

We are going to split our phrase as follow:

  • Line 1: YOU ARE
  • Line 2: our
  • Line 3: Adventure

17- We are going to change the font for our design, we are going to click on the first line: YOU ARE, we are going to locate the Font functionality on the top bar menu, in there we are going to filter by FREE fonts and we are going to search for the font: Hide Tide

18- With the same process, we are going to select our second line text: our , in this case we are going to use the font: Karley

19- And the last text line, following the same process, we are going to select our third line text: Adventure , in this case we are going to use the font: Karley

20- We are going to add a square using shapes functionalities located on the left side vertical menu, and we are going to resize it to: 3” x 3” (this is more or less the default measurement for stickers)

💡Tip: You can do your stickers bigger or smaller based on your design and preference.

21- We are going to change the color of our square to a lighter color, to be able to distinguish our design. The square is only a placeholder to be able to determine the dimensions of our design, but is not going to be cut. In order to change the color, go to operations functionality in the top vertical bar, and click on the color squared (gray by default) in order to choose a different color.

22- We are going to place our design (images and text) over the square, and we are going to accommodate them in a way that we like:

💡Info: You are going to have to resize the whole design so it fits nicely inside the small square, you can use the measurements functionalities as we used previously OR after selecting one of the elements, you click on any of the corners and you can just drag and move the mouse to increase or reduce the element, this applies to text,  images and/or shapes

💡Tip: You can use any other phrase or text. Also, make sure that you are sending back your square, so your design is showing over it:

23- Once that you are done with the resizing and you are happy with the result, we are going to hide the square. In order to do that, you have to click on the square, and then click on the little eye icon that is showing under the Layers section.

After you clicked on it:

24- Now, we are going to select all the elements for our design, we are going to attach them using the same functionality as before AND we are going to FLATTEN. This last functionality is the one that is going to allow us to print and then cut the design.

After you Flatten the design:

25- The last step before finishing our design is to create an OFFSET. This is to create a little white space between the design and where the cricut is going to be cut, like a margin for our all design. We are going to select our design and we are going to click on the Offset functionality in the top bar menu and you apply the distance of the margin that you like and click on Apply.

💡Info: We like the offset to 0.12 inches, but you can choose the size that you like, in here also you can choose the different corners and make sure that the Weld Offsets is always checked.

After the Offset, you are going to have something like:

26- We are going to change the color of our offset to White, but you can change it to any color that you like, using the same functionality as before when we changed the color of our square. And we are going to Attach and flatten the offset with our design:

27- After you are happy with the design, especially with the measurements, we are ready to save our design, Click on Save button on the Right Top side of the screen and provide a name to your design and click on Save button.

28- After this.. Your sticker is READY!!!! You DID IT!!!

Since when you print and cut, you are not able to print on the same sheet of paper again, we are going to provide a couple of cute images that are ready to be printed and cut so you can add to your design! BUT also, we are going to teach you how to do 2 more designs really quickly using the same functionalities as on the first design! So if you have any concerns, just check the steps that we did with our first design!

Step 1.2: ‘You had me at Tacos’ Design

We are going to apply some of the same concepts and functionalities that we used with our first design!

1- We are going to install 2 fonts for our design. In order to do this, you need to download the fonts that we are providing. After that, follow the steps that are showing on your device in order to finish the installation.

The font that we are going to use is called: Tacos de Tijuana and Bellarose:

For MacOS, the steps to install the font are:

💡Tip: In order to be able to use the fonts that you just installed, you need to close your cricut and open it again so the new fonts are showing on your font list.

2- After both fonts were installed, we can start our design!. We are going to use Text functionality to write the word: TACOS and we are going to change the font for: “Tacos de Tijuana”

3- After that, we are going to click on the text and by right click over the text we are going to Ungroup the text so we can change the color for each letter:

After Ungrouping the Text:

💡Tip: You can do the same by just using the text functionality and write letter by letter.

4- We are going to change the color to each letter, to something like:

💡Tip: The idea is to have very fun colors!

5- After you change all the colors, following the same process as we did for the “Ungroup” we are going to do the opposite and we are going to group the text again.

6- Now, we are going to add the following phrase using Text functionality: “you had me at” and we are going to change the font to: Bellarose

7- Using the Upload functionality we are going to upload our Mexican hat, provided in this tutorial. You need to make sure that you saved the image in your device previously. We are going to follow the process that we did when we uploaded the tent on the previous design.

8- We are going to resize the hat and put it over the “you” word:

9- Using Images functionality, we are going to search for lines and we are going to use the one that is kind of wavy:

💡Tip: You can also search by the ID of the image, in this case is: #M439A4

10- After adding this image we are going to add over the heart shape a rectangle and we are going to slice it in order remove it from the design, since we want only the line.

After the slice you should have something like:

And we are going to remove the hearts and the slice result:

11- We are going to locate in the middle of the 2 texts, and we are going to resize it thinner than the original design, something like:

12- We are going to slice the left over of the line so it ends at the same length as the text:

At the end you should have something like:

13- Now we are going to select all the elements and we are going to group them and flatten them:

14- We are going to create the offset now, following the same process as before, after creating the offset you should have something like:

15- We are going to put aside the offset and you are going to notice that there are some blank spaces showing, those blank spaces are going to be cut later. We suggest removing those blank spaces, but this is up to you.

In order to remove them, we are going to fill those blank spaces with small shapes and we are going to weld them:

After the weld, you should have something like:

16- Now, we are going to change the color, in our case white color, and we are going to overlap the design over the offset, and using the Align functionality to make sure that they are centered

17- After, we are going to attach and flatten them.

18- We are going to make sure that the size is something similar to 3” x 3”, remember that this is only a suggestion!

19- After this our second design is ready!

Step 1.3: Adding cute extra images!

1- Using the upload functionality, the same as we used to upload our tent for the first design, we are going to upload the following images:

  • Penguin.svg
  • Skull_Floral.svg
  • Unicorn.svg
  • Gnome.png

💡Tip: You have to upload them one by one, BUT you can select them all together in order to add it to the canvas. Also, you can use any image that you want, there is no need to have a SVG extension for the print then cut functionality.

2- After you upload them, you should have something like:

3- You are going to select each image at the time, resize it to the desired size and add the offset. The same as we did with our 2 previous designs.

4- Remember to Save your project every time that you do a modification in order to avoid losing anything if something happens!

5- After that we are ready to start printing and cutting our stickers!

Step 2: Print and Cut The Design

1- Before start printing and cutting our design, we need to make sure that we are going to cut with the right cricut machine, in order to do this, we are going to click on Maker in the top Right Menu, next to Make Green button and in there, we are going to chose our machine, in our case we are using a Cricut Maker

2- We are ready to start printing and cutting, so you are going to click on the MAKE green button.

We are going to see something like:

3- We are going to click on Continue

4- When you click on Send to Printer, in here you select the printer device, the amount of copies. We are going to turn off the Bleed. And then click on Print.

💡Tip: Based on your printer, you should change the paper type by enabling System Dialog and also in your printer. In our case with our printer, only changing the paper type in the printer is enough.

5- Based on your printer, you need to add the paper on the tray, in our case, the glossy part of the paper is going to be facing down.

6- After the print is ready, we suggest waiting at least 5-10 minutes before cutting so the design is not affected by the cricut rolls while cutting.

7- When we are ready to cut, we are going to select Vinyl material with Less pressure:

8- Now that our configurations are ready, we are going to proceed to add our vinyl in our physical mat, in order to do that, we grab our vinyl/stickers and our mat.

9- Once the Mat was uploaded, we are going to click on the Cut button and the machine is going to start cutting and you are going to be able to see the progress of the cut on your device screen.

For the print then cut process, the machine first is going to read the square lines that were added when printed, if you are cutting in a very dark room, we recommend turning on the lights.

10- After the cut is done, the upload/download mat button is going to start blinking, meaning the cut is ready, so you are able to download the mat from your machine and proceed to add the next mat following the same process.

Also, you are going to notice a check next to your mat on your device screen, so with this you can differentiate which mat/design was already cut and which ones not yet.

Step 3: Weeding

1- After the cut is ready, we are going to use our fingers very gently to remove the stickers. Once you separated all the stickers you are going to have something like:

Step 4: Use your stickers!

1- You are ready to start using all the stickers!!!!
