Step 1: Create the Design

1: In order to be able to start our Design, we are going to access our Design

Space application and in there we are going to click on the + New Project Green button located on the top Right corner of our screen.

2: After we clicked in there, we are going to be able to access our Blank Canvas, in where we are going to start creating our Design:

3: We are going to use the upload functionality to add our images.

You are going to upload both images that we are providing, following the steps that are showing in your device.

After adding them to your canvas, you should be able to see something like:

4: We are going to ungroup the images so we can resize them and manage them independently:

After ungrouping them:

5: You are going to also apply the same process as Step 4, to the other image that you uploaded:

💡Tip: We are not going to resize the elements, the size that you have in your canvas is the one that we are going to use.

6: We are going to change the color of the items so it’s easy to identify them specially if you want to create more than one flower of the same type but in different color. In order to change the color, you are going to select the element, click on the color square next to the operations drop down and click on the desire color:

7: We are going to duplicate each one of the elements the following amount:

* Leaves: 4 leaves in total

* Flower base: you are going to cut 1 for each flower, in our case, 2

* Flower 1: 6 petals in total

* Flower 2: 16 petals in total

In order to duplicate, we are going to select the element and then click on the duplicate button the amount of times that we want:

After duplicating each one of the elements we should have:

💡Tip: Each one of the amounts that is being suggested is only for 1 flower of each type, you can add more “petals” to each flower or duplicate more times in order to do more flowers.

8: We are going to use the shapes functionality, and we are going to add a circle:

9: we are going to change the color to red, we are going to resize the circle to 1.26” and we are going to duplicate it 15 times:

10: For the last flower (circles) we are also going to add a base of the flower in green.

💡Tip: You can use different colors and shades of green if you want.

12: We are going to add a rectangle with the following dimensions and we are going to change the color:

13: we are going to add an scoring line, we are going to change the operation to Basic Cut and resize it with the following measurements:

14: We are going to duplicate several times the line (47 in total) and we are going to place them over the rectangle, we are going to use as a guidance the small squares on our canvas:

15: Once there are all places, using the align functionality you are going to select all the elements (including the rectangle) and we are going to align them to the top, and after align them all together we are going to attach them:

After attaching them:

16: We are going to duplicate this rectangle, one more time, this is going to be the center of 2 of our flowers:

17: We are going to add a square using the shapes functionality with the following dimensions W:8” and H: 10” and we are going to change the color to a light pink:

18: Once that you have all the flowers that you want, and the size and colors, you are ready to start cutting the design.

Step 2: Cut the Design

1: After you are happy with the designs, we are ready to save the project, Click on Save button on the Right Top side of the screen and provide a name to your design and click on Save button.

2: We are going to click on the Make button to start configuring our materials!

3: You are going to be able to see one mat per color of your design, remember that the colors there are for reference only, the real color is going to be the one related with the felt that you are using.

4: We are going to click on continue, and in there we are going to search for the felt type that we are going to use

Settings for Felt Bonded: (the ones that looks like cardstock sheets)

Settings for Felt Wool Fabric: (smaller squares, softer when you touch them)

💡Tip: If you are using wool felt, you needs the maker or maker 3 in order to use the rotary blade.

5: After the cut is done, you are going to unload the mat and we are going to remove the felt from the mat very gently, especially the wool felt, since it’s more fragile while it is stuck to the mat and you should have something like:

Step 3: Assemble The Flowers

CAUTION the glue gun is very HOT, please take care while using it!

Rose Flower: (Red circles):

1: We are going to start assembling the first flowers, in this case we are going to start with the one that has the circles as petals. We are going to grab our floral wire, we are going to connect our glue hot gun and we are going to start using it.

We are going to glue one petal at the time, and when applying the glue, we are going to apply it over the felt in a smile shape, something like:

2: We are going to glue it over our flower wire and round it over, making sure that is really glue to the wire:

3: We are going to apply the glue to the second circle (smile shape) and we are going to make sure that we do not apply it over the back of the previous petal, so we can go round them:

4: You are going to continue applying one petal at the time until you are done with all the petals:

5: After that we are going to proceed adding the base of the flower, to do this, we are going to apply glue all over the base of the flower and we are going to proceed to glue it:

6: Your first flower is done! If you are planning to have more colors of this type of flower, you just need to do the same process.

7: You are going to cut using the wire cutter, all the wire up to the bottom of the flower:

Yellow Felt Flower: (in our Design Space design was the pink one)

1: We are going to grab one of our small rectangles (the one that we created a lot of cuts over it) and we are going to glue it rounding it over the flower wire:

After rolling all the square, you should have something like:

2: Now, we are going to start gluing our petals, as previously, one at the time, this time we are going to glue 4 petals per row:

3: For the second row, you are going to make sure that you glue each petal between the 2 petals from the first row:

4: You are going to do the same with the other rows, making sure that the one more on the outside of the flower covers the space between the 2 petals from the previous row:

5: Once you are done with all the petals, you are going to glue the base of your flower and going to place the base of the flower and you are also going to cut the excess of the floral wire:

Violet/Lila Felt Flower: (in our Design Space design was the violet/lila one)

1: We are going to start with the same process as our previous flowe, by rolling the rectangle over the floral wire.

2: We are going to place as before, one petal at the time, but this time when gluing the petal over the center we are going to apply a pinch over the petal, we are going to do 2 rows with 3 petals per row:

3: For the second row, we are going to apply the same process as the previous flower and we are also going to cut the excess of the floral wire.

Leaves:

1: You are going to apply like a line at the bottom of the leaves and glue the 2 sides together like a pinch in the bottom of the leave:

Step 4: Assemble the Frame

1: We are going to remove the back of our frame, and we are going to cut 3 (could be more or less based on your preferences) strings of Jute twine, each string is going to be 9”. Using the Glue hot gun we are going to glue them on the back of our frame:

2: Using glue, we are going to glue our rectangle that we cut in cardstock to the back of our frame:

3: After all your leaves and flowers are done, you should have something like:

💡Tip: In our case, we decided to add 2 more flowers, you can add as many as you want!

4: Before gluing the flowers to the frame, we are going to place them to see if we like them and also to decide how and where we are going to place them:

5: We are ready to start gluing them, we are going to apply hot glue on the bottom of our flowers and our leaves and we are going to push them with a little of pressure into the frame:

6: After you glue all your flowers and leaves, you should have something like this:

7: We are ready to place the back of our frame.

8: And your frame is done!!! Amazing Job!!!!
